Generator photo checklist
You do not need a professional equipment survey to start. A few clear photos can help identify the unit and the work involved.
Start with what you can safely see
Photos are optional. Only photograph equipment and areas you are authorized to access. Use existing records or safely accessible exterior views; do not start the generator, open energized panels, remove guards, climb equipment or disconnect wiring to obtain a photo.
- Nameplate or data tagCapture the manufacturer, model, serial number and rating if the plate is accessible. Keep the kW or kVA label visible. A close, readable photo is more useful than typing uncertain numbers.
- Overall generatorShow the complete unit from one or two accessible angles. Include the enclosure or skid so its configuration and general condition are visible.
- Control display and hour meterPhotograph an already visible display or meter if safe. Do not energize the unit or open a panel solely to get this information. Existing maintenance records are another option.
- Visible condition and known issuesShow accessible damage, missing components, corrosion or the area related to a known problem. Describe anything that cannot be safely photographed.
- Installation and associated itemsA wider view can show the pad, enclosure, nearby tank and other items you want considered. Identify which items belong to you and which are intended to remain.
- The access pathShow the route from the generator toward the truck access point. Gates, narrow passages, overhead obstructions and surrounding equipment can affect removal planning.
Send a useful first set
The form accepts up to four JPG, PNG or WebP photos, 5 MB each and no more than 25 megapixels. Prioritize the nameplate, an overall view, a condition photo and the access route. If a phone photo is too large or uses HEIC, submit the details without it. You can provide photos during follow-up, or export a JPG before attaching.
Avoid including people, access codes, keys, security-system details or unrelated confidential records. Our upload process re-encodes accepted images and removes embedded image metadata, including location tags. See the privacy notice for how inquiries and photos are handled.
Not sure about the generator’s size?
Choose “I don’t know the rating” or select the unit shown on the plate. kW and kVA are different measurements; do not treat them as interchangeable. We can review a readable nameplate rather than rely on an assumed conversion.
For multiple units, identify which photo belongs to which generator in the notes. Include the location and target timing, then submit the equipment for review.
